Why is vocabulary important in English? Here are 4 reasons why it is important to study, know and learn as many words as you can.
1- Communicating better š.
It is ā important ā to have a large ā¬ļø vocabulary because it allows you to tell people what you mean, and express š£ļø your thoughts š¤.
Example: If you go to a doctor š©ŗš©āāļø and you have to tell him where it hurts š, you can speak about different body parts šŖšš¼ šļø š¦µš and he will be able to understand.
2- Successful in School and University š.
It is ā important ā to study šØāš« and know as many words as you can because it builds language development. Children šØāš©āš§āš¦ who have a larger ā¬ļø vocabulary are better thinkers š, and this also boosts confidence. Example: If you know a large number of words, you have a higher ā¬ļø chance of being successful āš in academics š§āš«.
3- Finding workš.
If you have a higher ā¬ļø vocabulary š§ and know more words, this will lead to job-related success āš. The higher your vocabulary the better your communication š³ skills will be.
Example: If you want to apply for a job and you can speak š¤ to the manager or boss š§š¼āš¼ using a wide range of language to express š£ļø yourself, this could lead to a more successful āš interview and job.
4- Improves writing and reading š.
If you have a good vocabulary, it will help you write more successfully āš. The more words you study and know the better your writing āļø skills will be. Studies have also shown that all children šØāš©āš§āš¦ need to understand a minimum of 98% of words, to understand what they are reading š.
Example: Studying words and improving āš ā¬ļø your vocabulary will also help you to understand novels and schoolbooks š«š which you have to read for tests šÆāļø.
